Abstract

This report focuses on the challenges of regional competitiveness, which are not solely explained by the availability of resources or infrastructure, but also by the extent to which institutions provide businesses with fast, transparent, predictable and accessible services. This study examines the impact of regulatory efficiency and business services on regional competitiveness in Bulgaria by synthesising existing theoretical and empirical research. The research objectives involve identifying governance failures and justifying the need for governance reform in the regulatory environment.
